INTRODUCTION!

 Hello! My name is Peter, and I am about to take you into living life with a VOCSN Ventilator! This is a ventilator that can do five therapies. Ventilation, Oxygen Therapy, Cough Therapy, Suction, and Small Volume Nebulization. This vent is an ICU vent brought to home!  Those who have used a ventilator for a long time like I have understand well the variety of home ventilators, such as the LTV ventilators, the Trilogy Ventilators, the Astral Ventilator, the Newport Ventilator, and you know we can't forget the old vents like the LP10s. they played an important part in patients' lives. But now the VOCSN is here. It's an ICU vent, that us patients who have one get the comfort of ICU ventilation at home.

   Through this blog, you will get a picture of what life is like for ME, a patient who is on the VOCSN ventilator. And I'm so blessed to be able to share this with you. I'm currently in the process of transitioning over from the LTV, which I now use at night only, to the VOCSN which I will one day when all the supplies arrive, for humidification, be able to use this ventilator all day, and all night.

I like the LTV ventilator. I LOVE that thing! It is considered ICu grade ventilation. But now, with my mobility, and all the places I go with my assistant Joshua, It's time to upgrade to a ventilator I can use all day, and all night, that's going to give me the portability of the hospital ventilators that patients get transported on. The VOCSN has a lot of specifications such as the shock and vibration tolerance, that the Hamilton  T1 ventilator has. 

   I've been on Hamilton ventilators, and THEY ARE GOOD VENTS!!! I can tell you that right now! THEY ARE GOOD VENTILATORS! Now I'm using a ventilator, that feels very similar to the Hamilton T1, in it's ventilation! I've been on the Trilogy EVO ventilator, which had a dual-limb circuit, but it didn't give me nearly as comfortable of a ventilation pattern as the VOCSN does. I'm comfortable on the VOCSN, and I know that other patients are as well. Ventilators have come a long way, and I am PROUD to be on a ventilator that can give me ICU quality ventilation, at home!

Great News!

 Well, I have great news! So, Long story short, I have a medical grade air mattress. Does it do lateral Rotation? No! Does it have True Low Air Loss? No! Does it have a Blower? No! It's a Medline A20 Alternating Pressure Mattress. Nothing fancy. It has a pump with two big hoses that go to my air mattress. It has a Low Pressure Alarm. It has a dial to adjust the firmness, and a switch to select either alternating, or Static mode. That's it! But I have an air mattress, and It's comfortable! VERY comfortable! That's what mattres. If I end up being in serious of Lateral Rotation, well that's when I' will end up in the hospital, and of course the Stryker InTouch beds do lateral Rotation. Other than that, Not happenin. Not much new happening!

    Well, it's been several days since I poted in the blog, and I figured that I should go a head and post. There's been really nothing new that's happened lately. We've had a big snow storm, and have a few inches of snow on the ground. If you know me, I HATE SNOW! What normal person likes snow? I don't! I wasn't able to go to Physical Therapy because of the snow, and my Respiratory Therapist wasn't able to bring a replacement VOCSN Ventilator, from where mine stopped working. So I have a piece of garbage Trilogy EVO ventilator! The Trilogy EVO ventilator is truly a horrible low grade ventilator, and It's really meant for a patient who's on BIPAP, or some other form of Non-Invasive Ventilation. I don't know why these companies make ventilators with passive leaks, and then claim that they can be used for trach patients as well as the Non-Invasive Ventilator patients. They shouldn't be using this type of ventilation for a trach patient. EVER!!!...

Update on the Air Mattress Ordeal!

    Well, my Dr. FINALLY got around to getting in the script for the medical grade air mattress!! He FINALLY got script in, and now we just have to wait to see what my lovely medical insurance will do with the script.  As I have said many times before, Medical insurance doesn't usually pay for those unless you get a pressure ulcer, and you're already in trouble!!! Once that happens, then they'll think about possibly covering a medical grade air mattress! Until then, you're on your own. But we can always hope for the best right? Hahahahaha! Don't you just love America Healthcare? I DO!!!! They'll see you through, and you'll be just fine! ((NOT))!!!!!!
